We're shaking things up at CA this week with our latest afterevent - an expedition to Fullerton for dinner at Steamer's Jazz Cafe! The twist here is that, as reservations had to be made for our club to attend, our weekly general meeting at 7pm on Thursday will start promptly and end no later than 7.30.

The reason for all this madness, you may ask? CA has booked half the club exclusively for its members, so we have to show up in a timely manner. There's no cover charge, so come out early, and enjoy a night of great music and the tastes of Cajun cooking with CA!

April 20, 2006

A little friendly competition between friends is never harmful, and this week is no different with our Battle of the Sexes! Meeting will be at the Cross Cultural Center, starting promptly at 7pm on Thursday. Don't be late! Come out this Thursday and see for yourself just what lengths our would-be cupids of the night will go to in order to bring joy into the hearts of others!

The Championship Basketball Game for the CA Candyshoppers will be this Wednesday, Nov. 30th at 9:30pm at the ARC indoor basketball courts. Come watch and support the CA Candyshoppers (4-1) as they challenge team AED (5-1) for the title. We are so close to a championship. Don't be left out! I know we can overwhelm AED by just having a massive attendance of CA fans alone. Bring signs, come with friends. Let's show AED that this is CA Town! WOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!

Your Sports Coord,
Brian

November 25, 2005

Phew! No meeting this week, due to the holiday, but hope you all had a fun and safe Thanksgiving!

Next week's meeting will feature something extra special: a two-part series in which we'll have the chance to give to one another, as well as enjoy dimsum the weekend before finals. That's right, Gift-Exchange and Dimsum Luncheon are our events for week 10, and we've spared no effort organizing these activities for you. Come on out and enjoy the magic of Christmas [three weeks] early with CA; just a precursor of the fun that always comes after fall quarter!

November 20, 2005

WIN WIN WIN!!! Congratulations to the CA Candyshoppers, CA's competitive basketball team, with their playoff win against the Pink Pineapples last Thursday night. The Candyshoppers dominated the court, winning by over 50 points! The Candyshoppers now advance to the FINALS and will either play against Kababayan or AED.

Currently the game is scheduled for the Thursday after Thanksgiving, but we are in the process of changing it to the Wednesday after Thanksgiving so that you all can watch =). Don't miss out! We're just ONE game away from CA's first IM basketball championship in 5 years! They cannot do it alone. They need your support. Keep checking the website for updates on the time and date of the championship game.

November 13, 2005

And now, for something completely different: Guys' & Girls' Night Out!

The gentlement and ladies of the CA board will be organizing separate activities this Thursday. Surprise events have been planned out, so be sure not to miss the only event of its kind this quarter. Our general meeting is, as usual, Thursday, at 7PM at the Cross Cultural Center - where the night's event will be announced, coincidentally!

Haven't found a CA family yet? Come out and meet the board and members! Signups for CA membership are also still going on, for those that haven't yet had a chance to join and would like to. See you all on Thursday!

November 8, 2005

Veteran's Day is a University-wide holiday, so relax with CA and come to this week's event - karaoke at Elvis Karaoke Studio (a.k.a. "Elvis!?") on Thursday night. It's just off of 405's Brookhurst exit, and the cost is only seven dollars, an extremely low price considering that CA will be renting out the entire place for two hours!

Featuring songs from years past up to present day hits, there is sure to be something to your liking in their vast selection. Don't feel shy to get up there and grab that microphone! We're waiting for you to take the stage after our weekly meeting this Thursday at the Cross Cultural Center.

October 31, 2005

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Hope you all had a blast at our first clubbing event of the year - be sure to keep an eye out as we'll be out flyering on ring road again before you know it. But for this week, we're changing gears and taking on a more sports-oriented afterevent with broomballing at the Westminster Ice Palace. If your'e not sure what it is (I know I didn't at first, either), it's like hockey with shoes instead of skates and brooms instead of sticks; fun times for sure, but some safety gear will be provided already from the location. Cost to play will be five dollars for roughly two hours, so be sure to at least come check it out if you've never seen a game - it's quite a sight.

October 24, 2005

Midterms are on their way out around this time, and there's nothing like a sound clubbing event to unwind after working oh-so-hard in school. Freaktion will be held at "The Can" in Garden Grove, at 14241 Euclid Avenue, Garden Grove. Presale tickets are available from any officer for only $10, so if in doubt, ask your big bro or big sis, because cover charge on Friday night goes up to $15.

Since clubbing is on Friday, this Thursday's afterevent will be a surprise planned by the board members en masse. Come out to find out! If there are any of you that are still in need of a family, come by our meeting at 7PM in the Cross Cultural Center; if you need any adjustments, let us know! ;)

October 17, 2005

Now that most everyone has gotten their family set up, it's time to strengthen that bond during our annual Family Feud event! No silly questions or surveys here: this is going to be an outdoor romp that will net one family the distinction of rising to overcome the challenges set before them.

Through the years, the events have been modified, swapped in, and phased out, but this year the planning committee have wracked their brains many a night to bring you a selection of games that will not favor the physically or mentally adept; the family that works together the best will be the one to WIN!

So come, then, to a night of games and diversions before the midterms come rolling in! Meeting will be at the Cross Cultural Center at 7pm on Thursday, as usual, with the event taking place immediately after.

October 9, 2005

If there's one thing better than a two story-high towering inferno, it's probably this week's afterevent - family dinner at Sam Woo Restaurant at Culver and Irvine Center Drive.! If you are already a paid member, you will be personally contacted during the week by your new big - come and get to know them better while enjoying quality Chinese food together!

Interested in joining CA? Sign up is available every Thursday at our general meeting; if you can't make it out that night, get in contact with any board member and we will point you in the right direction!

October 4, 2005

After an unbelievable turnout to our first general meeting of the year, we're back this week with a brand new bag. BONFIRE! After our meeting (7pm at the Cross Cultural Center, as usual) we will be heading to Corona Del Mar for a night of fun and games. Crackling blazes and campfire food provided for all who come; so come on out and meet new friends at our meeting and afterevent!

CADC, additionally, will be holding dance workshops October 10th-12th, in preparation for their tryouts on Monday, October 17th. For more information stop by their booth on Ring Road, or check out cadcuci.net. Finally, see CADC perform on Thursday at 5 in Aldrich Park, as the 04-05 team performs for the last time before tryouts!

September 27, 2005

Wow! A big thanks goes out to all those that came out to hang out last Thursday, and a very special shout out to our supporters, without whom none of this would have been possible. Galleries of the past week are up, by the by.

For those of you who would like to find out even more about our organization, come by our first general meeting of the year this Thursday, September 29th at the Cross Cultural Center right across from the Administration Tower! Afterevent this week is CAR RALLY! Play to win with your teammates - just remember to play nice. ;) Hope to see you there!

September 20, 2005

Orientation is this Thursday, September 22nd at 7PM in the Social Science Lecture Hall. Head on over as we start off the year with our welcome program, and invite your friends out to a night that will not soon be forgotten!

September 18, 2005
